Knowledge is power
We have all heard the sayings, “Knowledge is power”, “You are what you eat” and “The more you learn the more you earn.”
Here is my definition of knowledge, “Knowledge is the blend of information from present and past, from various sources. To be able to be able to organize that information into a usable form to create a deliberate and desired outcome.”
At work knowledge is power.
Jack Welsch said, “If the rate of change on the outside exceeds the rate of change on the inside, the end is near.”
The employment and business landscape changes very quickly. It is imperative to stay ahead of the curve. Gone are the days where you simply finish school and get a job until retirement. To stay employable you need to invest in yourself.
Jim Rohn said, “You are the sum of the 5 people you spend most of your time with.” So stop spending your time with the people who stand around the water cooler complaining about what is wrong with the world. Instead surround yourself with positive like minded people who realise that you need to plant the seeds before you can harvest the crops.
If you want to have that promotion or raise at work, invest in your own skills. Then show the boss that you are prepared to do what it takes. That will set you apart from the people that expect to get the promotion or raise who do not deserve it. Knowledge is power. For fun, why don’t you set yourself a goal to gain more knowledge then your direct boss.
In business knowledge is power.
